The number of persons registered as unemployed at public employment offi-ces in the Community of Nine fell again in April by about 230,000. How-ever, the total still stands at 12.5 million or 11.1X of the civilian wor-king population. The seasonally adjusted figures for the Community of Nine reveal a slight increase in unemployment. This is due to a continued rise in the seaso-nally adjusted figures for Italy (+ 2.9% by the EUROSTAT-method), France (+2.3X by the national method) and the Federal Republic of Germany (+ 0.9% according to the calculations of the Federal Institution for Labour). There was also a slight increase in Ireland's figures. In the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, the seasonally adjusted number of persons registered as unemployed remained practically unchanged from that of the previous month, whereas it fell again in Belgium as in the past few months.
