This bulletin, published by the Statistical Office of the European Communities (SOEC), contains statistics on industrial products derived from the Member States' national statistical institutes and other sources. There are two parts: Part A The data on the relevant industrial sectors are based on agreed definitions with a view to comparability throughout the Community, and are, with a few exceptions, supplied to the SOEC by the national statistical institutes. Some items are unavailable for reasons of statistical secrecy or the fact that national surveys are gradually being brought into line with the SOEC's harmonized definitions. To save space and time, it has been decided, with effect from bulletin 1/1985, to leave out some products for which only a limited range of data are available. The said data remain available, however, in EUROSTAT's CRONOS data bank. Part Β (Miscellaneous sectors) The data in this part have not yet been harmonized, which means that the level of comparability of national data is somewhat lower than in Part A. The figures are derived from the national statistical institutes, international organizations and trade associations. Here again the SOEC has, for reasons of rationalization, discontinued statistics on a number of products with an inadequate range of data. Classification Classification of products by industrial sector is based on the "General Industrial Classification of Economic Activities within the European Communities" (NACE). Product coding is as follows: - The first two digits correspond to the NACE Class (e.g. A3 for textiles). - The third and fourth digits are simply in numerical sequence.
