Abstract

Despite a drop of 370 000, caused largely by seasonal factors, there were still 12,6 million persons registered as unemployed in the Community <exclu-ding Greece) in April 1985. The unemployment rate among the civilian working population fell from 11,5~ at the end of 'March to 11,2~ at the end of April 1985. In April, the highest unemployment rate in the Member States of the Community was, once again, recorded in Ireland, with 17,6~, followed by Belgium <13,2~), the Netherlands (13,1~), Italy <12,8~) and the United Kingdom <12,4~), all well above the average for the Community. Rates below the Community average were recorded in Luxembourg <1,7~), the FR of Germany <8,6~), Denmark <9,7~) and France <10,3~).
