| dc.description.abstract | The accession negotiations with the Czech Republic were successfully concluded on 13 December 2002 and the Treaty of Accession was signed on 16 April 2003. In areferendum held on 13-14 June 2003, a majority of Czechs expressed their support for membership of the European Union. Following ratification of the Treaty of Accession, the Czech Republic will join the EU on 1 May 2004. |
