Abstract

The accession negotiations with the Czech Republic were successfully concluded on 13 December 2002 and the Treaty of Accession was signed on 16 April 2003. In areferendum held on 13-14 June 2003, a majority of Czechs expressed their support for membership of the European Union. Following ratification of the Treaty of Accession, the Czech Republic will join the EU on 1 May 2004.
