dc.description.abstract | The International Road Transport Union (IRU),
founded in Geneva on 23 March 1948, is the
international organisation which upholds the
interests of the road transport industry worldwide
to public authorities, private bodies and the media.
Via its global network of national Member
Associations, it represents the operators of
buses, coaches, taxis and trucks, from large fleets
to individual owner-operators. As such, the IRU
has a truly global vision and acts effectively at
international, regional, national and even local level,
through its Members and with public authorities.
