| dc.description.abstract | The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate In the European Community is estimated by Eurostat, after correction of the differences between national meth-ods of recording unemployment, at 8.5% for the month of February 1991. This represents an increase of 0.1% in relation to the previous month. For the first time since the end of the summer of 1985, the unemployment rate in the Community has experienced a slight increase in relation to the corresponding month of the previous year. Between February 1989 (9.2%) and February 1990 (8.4%) the annual trend in the fall in unemployment had exceeded 8%. Over the last 12 months unemployment rate has risen particularly in~~]· , -~ Kingdom, increasing from 6.3% to 7.5%, a rise of more than 1 ~ in~e s '-1 '~ ~ ' . • the order of 4% have also occurred in Ireland, Belgium, ~ . · ~,f~ . -creases of the same order have on the other hand bee o -~.· · ·~~ ~rtugal, Italy and Spain.
