Translated | After allowing for differences in national recording methods, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in the European Community is estimated, according to the International Labour Office (ILO) definition, to have been 8.6% in July 1990. The rate remains unchanged since March 1990. The stability of the unemployment rate for the Community as a whole conceals contrasting trends at national level. Only in Spain (-0.4%) and Portugal (-0.1%) has there been a decrease in the rate of unemployment while most other Member States experienced either stable or slightly increasing rates. In the case of Belgium and the United Kingdom, however, these increases were relatively important ( + 0,2% ) |
