dc.description.abstract | After compensating for differences in national recording methods, the seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate in the European Community, according to the International Labour Office (ILO) definition, is estimated to have been 8.6% in May 1990, remaining unchanged since the beginning of 1990. 51KTJIS8 ISSN 0252·9920 The changes in individual member-states during the month have been small; there has been a slight fall (0.1 %) in Belgium, Spain and Gennany, and a rise (0.2% or less) in Italy, Denmark, Ireland, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
