Abstract

This bulletin presents detailed structural data on unemployment which are available on a Community­wide basis only once a year in respect of the month of October. It therefore complements the up­to­date statistics of registered unemployed people, which are published monthly around three weeks after the end of the month to which they relate, in the monthly series of Bulletins "Unemployment". In particular, this bulletin provides more detailed data relating to aspects of the situation in the labour market in October 1979, 1980, 1981 and 1982. Unemployment rose by 88% in the Community as a whole between October 1979 and October 1982. This overall increase conceals a marked difference in the trends for male and female unemployment, the latter up by k^% compared with a leap of 106$ in the former, thus taking the share of female unemployment in relation to total unemployment down from k7% to k2%.
