Abstract

At the end of February 1983 there were 12.3 million persons registered as unemployed at public employment offices in the Community of Nine, this being the same figure as for the previous month. The unemployment rate of 11.1% of the civilian working population thereby remained unchanged. In contrast to earlier years, when unemployment reached a peak i.n the month of January and then showed a seasonal fall of between 1 and 4 percent in February, the labour market situation in the Community of Nine in this period 6f 1983 remained unaltered.
