dc.description.abstract	8,3 million persons were registeredasunemployed at public employment offices in the Community of Nine at the end of May 1981. This represents an unemployment rate of 7.5% by reference to the civilian working population. Despite a very slight reduction in the total number unemployed between end-April and end-May, the level of unemployment in the Community measured in seasonally ad-justed figures has risen by 2.5 %. Once again this increase has been more marked fo~ m~n ('+ 3,0%) than for women (+ 2.1 %) •
