dc.description.abstract	At the end of June 1981 the number of persons registered as unemployed at public employment offices in the Community of Nine rose to 8.4 million, representing an unemployment rate of 7.6% of the civilian working population. This level of un-employment has never before been reached in a summer month. This year the extent of the seasonal reduction has been particularly moderate so that the number of unemployed is now as high as at end-March 1981.
