Abstract

As in previous years, the number of unemployed registered at public employment offices in the Community showed a fall between January and February. At the end of February 1980, however, there still remained almost 6.5 million persons affec-ted by unemployment. As a percentage of the civilian working population unemploy-ment fell from 6.1% at the end of January 1980 to 6.0% at the end of February. As with the increase in January 1980, so was the fall in February largely due to weather conditions. The seasonally corrected figures have, since October 1979, remained around 6 million.
