dc.description.abstract	The decline in unemployment in the Community as a whole and in each of the indivi-dual Member States, which began in February 1979, continued during May. After a fall during the month of almost 250,000 in the Community total, the number of unemployed persons registered at public employment offices at the end of May 1979 was 5.6 million. The corresponding decrease in the percentage of registered unemployed in the civilian working population was from 5·5% in the preceding month to 5·3%.
