Between the end of October and the end of November 1978, the number of persons registered at public employment offices in the Community declined slight~y, both in absolute figures (-0.1%) and in terms of seasonally corrected figures (-0.6%). At the end of November the number of registered unemployed remained slightly above 6 million persons, corresponding to 5.6% of the civilian t·mrking population. For the first time since May 1978 the number of unemployed women showed a small reduction (-0.6%) during the month 'l"lhile in contrast to the tendencies of the two preceding months, the number of une~ployed men increased (+ 0.3~h). At the end of November 44.8 percent of the total of registered unemployed in the Community were women, although 'I"Tomen represented more than half of all unemployed in Belgium (60.67o), the I~ederal Republic of Germany (54-5%), France (53.5%) and Luxembourg (53.~~). At Community level, the proportion of unemployed men in the total male civilian working population \'las 4.91o, t'lhile the corresponding proportion for \'lOmen \"las 6.8%.
