dc.description.abstract | ln June 1977, the percentage of the working population registered as unemployed in the Community as a whole was 5.1%. This is slightly higher than in May 1917 {5-o%) and noticeably more than in June of last year (4.~). The total number of registered unemployed -5.3 millions in the whole Community-has increased by nearly 80,000 persons compared with May 1977; increases of 110,000 in the United Kingdom and 6,000 in the Netherlands more than offsetting falls in the other member countries. At this time of year, young people are leaving the school system and registering as unemployed; it seems that this was notably the case in the United Kingdom. |
