| dc.description.abstract | The Republic of Lithuania Progress Report 2011 on the promotion and use of energy from renewable sources (hereinafter referred to as ‘Report’) was prepared in pursuance of the provisions of Articles 5 and 22 of Directive 2009/28/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 April 2009 on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources and amending and subsequently repealing Directives 2001/77/EC and 2003/30/EC (OJ 2009 L 140, p. 16) (hereinafter referred to as Directive 2009/28/EC). Consumption of energy from renewable sources in energy consuming sectors and its share in gross final energy consumption were calculated using the Methodology for calculating the share of renewable energy in gross final energy consumption. This methodology is provided in the Annex to the Procedure for the submission to the European Commission of the Progress Report on the promotion and use of energy from renewable sources, approved by Resolution No 1314 of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania of 15 September 2010 (Valstybės žinios (Official Gazette) 2010, No 113-5757). The Report relies on the information and data provided by the Lithuanian Department of Statistics, Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Lithuania, Ministry of the Environment of the Republic of Lithuania, Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania, Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania, Ministry of the Economy of the Republic of Lithuania and Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Lithuania as well as enterprises, institutions and organizations subordinate to them. |
