| dc.description.abstract | The annual Public finances in EMU report was launched in 2000, one year after the Stability and Growth Pact took full effect. The objective, then as now, was to bring together in a single publication a review of key developments in the area of public finances in the Member States of the euro area and the EU as a whole. Over the years, thanks to the professionalism and dedication of the staff of the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs, the report has established a prominent place in the debate on fiscal policy in the EU. Judging from the valuable feedback that we regularly receive the report has become an important reference for practitioners and academics involved in the analysis of fiscal policy making and surveillance in the EU. |
