dc.description.abstract | The unemployment rate in the European Union (excluding the French overseas departments) rose from 10.5% in April 1993 to 11.3% in April 1994. The number of unemployed during the twelve months period, rose by more than 1.3 million, with the labour marked situation showing for another year a notable deterioration in more than half of the Union's regions. The most striking rises in the rates of unemployment (+ 3-5 percentage points) were recorded in certain regions in Spain, in the south of Italy, in the five new German Lander and in the French regions of Basse-Normandie, Corse, Picardie and Champagne-Ardenne. |
