dc.description.abstract | The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is an advisory body of the European Union based in Brussels. Since its establishment in 1957, the EESC has provided a unique forum for consultation, dialogue and consensus among representatives of the various economic, social and civil components of organised civil society. The EESC has a distinctive place in the EU's decision-making process as a consultative body which acts as an intermediary between the "legislative" (the European Parliament and the Council) and "executive" (the Commission) arms. The EESC ensures that civil society organisations have a say in Europe's development. |
