The BSEC:From New Regionalism to Inter-regionalism?

Abstract

This paper tries to provide an explanatory framework for understanding the BSEC as an example of ‘new regionalism’. It examines and illustrates the structural change of the BSEC within the context of ‘new regionalism’, the dynamics of the BSEC, the preferred outcomes of the BSEC and the inter-regional grouping cooperation between the BSEC and the EU. The paper argues that the BSEC could not be considered a ‘stumbling block’ to globalism but as a ‘stepping-stone’.
