Eurostat estimates that the seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate in the European Union (fifteen Member States) for the month of December 1995 was 10.9%, having risen +0.2% since the previous month to reach the same level as in December 1994. / i After falling regularly from the spring of 1994 to1reach a low of 10.6% in Septem-ber 1995, the unemployment rate for the Union :has since risen. Thi~ upward tendency, among both men an~; women, is ~vident in Germany, France, Italy, Sweden and Finland. In Spain thr trend remains downward while in the remaining Member States there is little discernible change.
