Since unemployment data for the Netherlands has been delayed due to a strike, the number of registered unemployed in the Community as a whole can only be estimated. Assuming that the trend in the Netherlands corresponds to the average of the other eight Member States, the number of registered unemployed in the Community of the nine would have risen by the end of November 1983 to 12.2 million and unemployment as a percentage of the civil working population to 10.9%.
