Abstract

At the end of June 1983, there were 11,4 million persons registered as unem-ployed at the public employment offices in the Community of the Nine. This re-presents an unemployment rate of 10,2% of the civilian working population. As in the previous two months, the fall of 0,8% in the number of persons re-gistered as unemployed in the Community of the Nine was due partly to seasonal factors. The seasonally-adjusted figures for unemployment as a whole show hardly any change over the past three months. There are signs of a slight reduction in the figure for men, whereas the number of unemployed women has again risen slightly.
