Statistical Telegram. Monthly statistics of registered unemployment in the European Community.

Abstract

At the end of June 1978, there were 5.6 millions persons or 5.3% of the civilian workin~ population registered at public employment offices in the Community. This represent~ a very slight increase compared with the preceding month (15000 persons, or + 0.3%). A fall in the number nm~mployed was once more recorded this month i.n Denmark, Ire 1 and, Luxembour,~, the Federal Republic of Germany and, to a lesser extent, in :Relgium w'bqe a slight upward trend was noted in Fran~e and Italy as well a.s.anet revnrsal of the down-ward tr~nd of re~ent months in the Netherlands and the United Kinedom. In terms of seasonally corrected figures the increase for the Community remains very slight. Seasonal movements are much less pronounced than last year: the rise in the number unemployed between May and June 1977 amounted to 2.5% (uncorrected figures).
