| dc.description.abstract | This financial report relates to the calendar year 1969, the seventeenth year of the European Coal and Steel Community's financial operations. Since 1 July 1967, date of the entry into force of the Treaty establishing a single Council and a single Commission of the European Communities, the single Commis-sion exercises the powers vested in the former High Authority by the Treaty of Paris, with each of the three Communities remaining a separate entity. Consequently, this report refers only to the "Commission" of the European Com-munities unless the name "High Authority" has to be used. During the year covered by this report, crude steel production has shown an ap-preciable increase from 98.6 million tons in 1968 to 107.3 million tons in 1969. At the same time, coal production continued its downward trend, decreasing from 175.8 million tons to 171.2 million tons. |
