Abstract

The unification of Germany on 3 October 1990 has led to an enlargement of the Community territory by approximately 108 000 km which corresponds to an increase of 4.8%. The population of the Com-munity also increases by 16.4 millions (+5.0%), to stand at 343.6 millions.
