Abstract

Per capita gross domestic product (GDP) Is generally used for making comparisons be-tween the economic situation in different coun-tries. In the European Community it is also used for comparisons between regions. At the time of the reform of the Community's structural funds, it was mainly on the basis of this indicator that was established the list of regions eligible under objective no.1 of the reform of the funds - "pro-moting the development and structural adjust-ment of the regions whose development is lagging behind".
