<title>Key figures on the European food chain</title>
<link>https://ketlib.lib.unipi.gr/xmlui/handle/ket/4001</link>
<description>Key figures on the European food chain
Eurostat
Key figures on the European food chain provides a selection of recent data from the domains of agriculture and fisheries statistics, as well as the wider farm to fork chain. The publication is divided into ten chapters, providing facts and figures about farms, farmers, farm production and prices, the economic performance of the agricultural sector, fisheries activities, food and beverages processing, trade, distribution, wholesale activities and the consumption of food and beverages. It concludes with a chapter on environmental issues related to some of the stages of the food chain. It presents key messages for the EU, and highlights the main players and key specialisations, accompanying analysis with intuitive visualisations and innovative data presentations. Information is presented for the European Union (EU) and its Member States, and is supplemented (when available) with data for EFTA members.

<title>From linear thinking to green growth mindsets Vocational education and training and skills as springboards for the circular economy</title>

<description>From linear thinking to green growth mindsets Vocational education and training and skills as springboards for the circular economy
European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop)
The linear ‘take, make, waste’ model, which took&#13;
hold with the first industrial revolution and has&#13;
powered economic development around the globe&#13;
since then, has an enormous environmental and&#13;
carbon footprint. Resource extraction, processing&#13;
of materials and fuels, and food production account&#13;
for an estimated 50% of greenhouse gas (GHG)&#13;
emissions and are responsible for 90% of biodiver-&#13;
sity loss and water stress (situations where water&#13;
resources in a country or region do not meet needs)&#13;
(European Commission, 2019). Mainstreaming and&#13;
upscaling renewables to reduce the environmental&#13;
footprint of energy production systems will cut 55%&#13;
of current CO 2 emissions at most. Reducing the&#13;
remaining 45% will require a fundamental change&#13;
in how goods are made and used. The circular&#13;
economy concept, which surfaced in economic&#13;
circles for the first time in 1988 (Kneese, 1988), is a&#13;
response to that challenge (Box 1)

<title>Growing green How vocational education and training can drive the green transition in agri-food</title>
<link>https://ketlib.lib.unipi.gr/xmlui/handle/ket/3992</link>
<description>Growing green How vocational education and training can drive the green transition in agri-food
European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop)
The agri-food sector is a major source of green-&#13;
house gas (GHG) emissions and air pollutants in&#13;
the EU; at the same time, it is heavily affected by&#13;
climate change. More frequent and more severe&#13;
extreme weather events such as droughts, floods,&#13;
cold spells, and heatwaves will pose challenges&#13;
for food producers. Crop yields can increase with&#13;
higher temperatures and CO2 levels in the atmos-&#13;
phere, but only with appropriate nutrient levels, soil&#13;
moisture and sufficient water availability.&#13;
Farmers and food producers will be challenged to&#13;
adapt their practices and technologies in response&#13;
to climate instability and to the increased risk of&#13;
infectious diseases and pests caused by climate&#13;
change. Projections suggest EU regions will be&#13;
affected very differently by climate change: agricul-&#13;
ture in northern Europe is expected to benefit from&#13;
it, while most southern European regions will be&#13;
negatively affected (EEA, 2019).

<description>Euratom research in action and opportunities for Europe EU strategic autonomy and the future energy systems : EU Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) Declaration
Rossetti di Valdalbero, Domenico; Janatkova, Karolina
The Euratom Research in Action and Opportunities for Europe: EU Strategic Autonomy and the Future Energy Systems event is organized by the European Commission. During the conference, the European Commission will announce the ambitious Declaration on ‘EU Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) 2030: Research &amp; Innovation, Education &amp; Training’. The declaration will be signed by Commissioner Gabriel and EU nuclear stakeholders: Nucleareurope, SNETP, ENS and ENEN. Following this Declaration, the EU will continue to lead research, innovation, education and training for the safety of European small modular reactors in support of the EU pre-partnership on SMRs. This publication includes the Declaration itself as well as key messages and bios of all the speakers participating to the event. Furthermore, it includes the List of Ongoing SMRs projects co-funded by the Euratom Programme. It also provides key information about the activities under the Euratom Research and Training Work Programme 2023-2025.
