dc.description.abstract | Recent developments in marriage and divorce, and also in fertility and mortality, have led to significant changes in household composition; cohabiting unmarried couples and lone-parent families are more frequent, traditional family structures are in decline, and more and more people are living alone. In this report, the definitions used in the 1990/91 censuses carried out in the EEA are briefly discussed and a number of basic tables are presented.
