dc.description.abstract | On 25th May 2018 the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)1 entered into application in the European Union, representing one of the most important and significant changes in the data protection legal framework in the EU in twenty years. GDPR builds on previous data protection legislation and guarantees the protection of individuals’ personal data irrespective of the format used (online, paper etc). GDPR applies not only to companies and organisations in the EU, but also to those based outside the EU that offer goods or services within the Member States of the European Union or monitor the behaviour of individuals in the European Union |
